Abstract
This reflection is about my journey to becoming an intern at Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center. The road I chose and the effort I put into volunteering made me independent. I decided to reach out on my own to become an intern where I love the work they do. We often think the process should be easy. Most of the time it isn't. I reconnected with people I already established relationships with. They treated my past experiences as my personal resume rather than my resume. This allowed them to see me. The online submission of resumes is not personal. I wanted someone who knew me because that made me human. This allowed them to see me. Seeing my mistakes and qualities as an intern. There is more than one way.
