Abstract
Over this past summer, I had the opportunity to work as a creative marketing intern for Minor History– a small, NYC based bag company. As the only intern in the company of approximately 9 people, my work experience was incredibly unique–both rewarding, and challenging. With my architectural studies major and liberal arts education, I felt very prepared for the internship. I believe that architectural studies is an incredibly well rounded major; the study epitomizes the liberal arts education. You acquire an interdisciplinary understanding of people, psychology, design, the environment, history/art history, and your place in the world. Through architecture, you learn how to translate abstract concepts into a functional reality. This foundation of learning makes the architectural studies major essentially applicable to any design oriented career. My biggest takeaway is that while I really enjoy the creative work I was doing at Minor History, in the future I hope to work for a company that helps various brands form their visual identity, rather than work for a company that is trying to find an identity.
