Abstract

This reflection describes my transformative summer internship at Sprout Farm, where I engaged in community-based agriculture, collaborated with a wonderful team of farmers, and explored the intersections of food justice, sustainability, and political activism. Through hands-on labor, community engagement, and partnerships with Fresh New London and the Mohegan and Eastern Pequot Tribal Nations, I deepened my understanding of food sovereignty, collective responsibility in land stewardship, and the production of knowledge outside traditional academic spaces. The experience demonstrated how community-based sustainable agriculture can inform both theoretical and applied approaches to social justice and community resilience.
